CONTROL Resonant post-launch plans: New Game++ and Photo Mode

Remedy posted a roadmap update naming two features it is working on next: a New Game++ mode and a Photo Mode. Neither shipped at launch; the studio gives a rough month for each and says why Photo Mode was held back.

What is on record
  • New Game++, repeatable New Game+ runs with no progress reset, expected in October.

New Game++: New Game+ without starting over

The current New Game+ lets a player carry progress into one extra run. The studio says “we’re preparing an update that will add… wait for it… New Game++, which means you can start NG+ run after NG+ run, without needing to erase all your progress.” It adds, “Do 665 runs if you want!” as a way of saying the run count is not capped. The studio gives one line for timing: “NG++ should be arriving in October.” No day is named. What carries over on the existing New Game+ run is on the how long to beat page.

Photo Mode: held back, then coming in November

Photo Mode was not part of the launch build. The studio explains why: “The reason Photo Mode didn’t release on launch is because we needed to prioritize making sure the game was in the best possible shape.” It says virtual photographers from the community were consulted while building it, and gives a rough window: “We expect to release Photo Mode sometime in November.” As with New Game++, no exact date is given.

More cosmetics, no date yet

The same post says “you can look forward to more cosmetic pieces for our favorite former coma patient/prisoner/fashion icon in future updates”, referring to Dylan. It names no items and no timing beyond “future updates.” The post separately mentions two cosmetics already obtainable at the time of writing: a newsletter-exclusive outfit and a Twitch-drop outfit for watching the game’s official stream, neither of which this page tracks since a live drop or a newsletter signup is not a claim this site can verify after the fact.

Not a patch, not paid DLC

This update is separate from the day-one hotfix, covered on the day-one patch (1.3.3) page, and separate from the paid content question on the DLC and Season Pass page. New Game++, Photo Mode and the cosmetics named here are free updates to the base game, not a purchase.
