CONTROL Resonant frame rate on PS5, Xbox and PC

The studio's own frame rate targets cover the PlayStation 5, the PS5 Pro and six PC tiers; Xbox is not among them. Each platform gets its own table below, and the numbers reviewers measured sit apart at the end so nobody mistakes them for the studio's.

PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro

Remedy's Communications Director described the game as “built with 60fps performance in mind from the beginning”, and the same post lists the modes. Stated on the PlayStation Blog: Control Resonant: PS5 features detailed The base console offers two modes; the Pro uses PSSR and offers three.

On the Pro, the post says Performance mode “targets 60fps at 2160p” and that “if you have a 120Hz-compatible display, you can choose Balanced mode, which targets 40fps at 2160p and also features ray tracing.” The same post admits that the studio can “get a little too hung up on details like resolution,” and says art direction and the overall visual experience matter more. More on the console is on the PlayStation 5 page.

PC: the frame rate target of each tier

On PC the frame rate is part of each requirements tier. Four tiers aim at 60 FPS and two, the Minimum tiers, at 30 FPS. The studio also lists an Uncapped Framerate feature for PC. The full hardware list for each tier is on system requirements. Listed in Steam announcement: Final PC System Requirements

A reviewer at RPG Site, testing the PC version, found in-game controls for V-sync, a frame rate limit and upscaling sharpness, plus DLSS, FSR and frame generation options and a Handheld preset alongside Low, Medium, High and Ultra. Described by RPG Site: CONTROL Resonant on Steam Deck A separate reviewer, DSOGaming, reports no support for Intel XeSS. Reported by DSOGaming: CONTROL Resonant PC performance analysis Neither is a studio statement.

Xbox Series X|S

The studio's mode targets cover PS5, PS5 Pro and PC. Xbox is not in them. The only description here is a reviewer's: Pure Xbox tested the Series X version and describes a Quality mode at 30 FPS and a Performance mode at a solid 60 FPS with a slightly fuzzier image, and it preferred Quality. Reported by Pure Xbox: CONTROL Resonant review (Xbox Series X) The review does not cover Series S. See the Xbox page for the platform's own listing.

Handhelds

The studio's FAQ says the game will support the Steam Deck at launch. Stated in Steam discussions: the developer's pinned FAQ Reviewers testing it reported frame rates under 30 in busy areas: Rock Paper Shotgun in city scenes Reported in Rock Paper Shotgun: CONTROL Resonant review and RPG Site even on the lowest preset with heavy upscaling. What reviewers measured

One reviewer's test: DSOGaming, RTX 5080

  • Setup: a Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 32 GB of DDR5, measured in an open-world area the reviewer found more demanding than the opening prologue.
  • Native 4K, Ultra settings, path tracing on: 20 to 22 FPS on the RTX 5080.
  • The same card with DLSS 4.5 at the Performance setting: 52 to 57 FPS.
  • With ray tracing off, 4K Ultra with DLSS 4.5 Performance: the reviewer describes a 100 FPS experience on the RTX 5080.
  • The reviewer calls the game GPU-bound, says it has no built-in benchmark, and reports no major stuttering in the prologue and the first open-world area.

The studio's RTX 5080 tier lists the Performance upscaler preset; the native figure above shows what dropping the upscaler costs on that card in this reviewer's test. It is one machine and one area. Measured by DSOGaming: CONTROL Resonant PC performance analysis

On consoles, Push Square played on a PS5 Pro in Performance mode and saw no frame rate dips, while noting the base PS5 in that mode looks a little fuzzier and dips in intense fights. Reported by Push Square: CONTROL Resonant review (PS5)
