How it plays

Multiplayer and co-op in CONTROL Resonant

The studio’s FAQ answers the multiplayer question in one line, and the store pages are tagged to match.

The studio’s answer

“CONTROL Resonant is a single-player experience and does not require an internet connection to play.” Stated in Steam discussions: the developer's pinned FAQ

Co-op and crossplay

The FAQ and the studio’s launch announcement do not mention co-op, online multiplayer or crossplay. Announced in Remedy: the worldwide launch announcement. Steam’s category tags for the game include Single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Full controller support, and carry no multi-player or co-op tag. Listed on Steam store page (appdetails API)

What needs an internet connection

  • Playing: the FAQ says a connection is not required.
  • Platform services: Steam lists cloud saves and achievements, and the Xbox catalogue lists cloud saves and Xbox achievements. Listed in Xbox store catalogue (displaycatalog API). Those are services of the storefront, and the FAQ does not describe how the game behaves without them.
  • GeForce NOW: the FAQ lists it as a launch platform. A streaming service runs the game on a server, so it needs a connection by nature.

Controllers

The FAQ answers the controller question separately: “Yes. CONTROL Resonant fully supports controllers on PC, including Xbox and PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers.” Stated in Steam discussions: the developer's pinned FAQ. The studio’s PlayStation Blog post adds that the designers used the DualSense adaptive triggers to give Dylan’s abilities a tactile feel. Written in PlayStation Blog: Control Resonant: PS5 features detailed. The PS5 page and the Steam page cover the platform side.
