CONTROL Resonant 48-hour early access, store by store

One edition on one console carries an early window: the PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe Edition. The Xbox and Steam pages list no head start for either of their editions, and the standard PS5 edition does not list one either.

Short answer

PS5 Digital Deluxe Edition: 48 hours of early access, starting 22 September, ahead of the digital unlock on 24 September.

Everyone else: the game unlocks at 14:00 UTC on 24 September. The clock and city times are on the release date page.

The studio’s launch-trailer press text, as Gaming Trend reports it, gives the same picture in one sentence: “The PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe Edition also includes 48-hour early access.” Reported by Gaming Trend: Here is your CONTROL Resonant launch trailer

What the PlayStation Store text says

The Deluxe page’s description ties the window to that edition: it says you “get 48 hour early access” starting on 22 September, followed by the pre-order items and the edition’s contents. Quoted from PlayStation Store (UK): CONTROL Resonant Digital Deluxe Edition The text names a day and no clock time. Counting back 48 hours from the 14:00 UTC digital unlock gives 14:00 UTC on 22 September, which is arithmetic on the two dates and not a time the store prints.

What early access is not

  • It is not a preload. Preloading lets you install before a date; early access lets you play before it. The difference is explained on the release date page.
  • It is not part of the Xbox or Steam Deluxe listings, which describe the same Deluxe items without a head start.
  • It is not a separate purchase on the PlayStation Store: it is listed as one feature of the Deluxe Edition, which costs $69.99 against $59.99 for Standard.
  • It does not move the physical release. Boxed copies follow on 15 October; see the physical release page.

Where the early window fits in the price

The Deluxe Edition bundles the early window with a digital artbook, the soundtrack, an Artifact, a resource bundle and an outfit. The full contents and how the other editions compare are on the editions page, and prices by store are on the price page. Console details for the PlayStation 5, including its performance modes, are on the PS5 page.
