CONTROL Resonant physical release: why the disc trails the download
The digital release is on 24 September. The physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S follow on 15 October, three weeks later. The reason the studio gave is that it needs a little more time for the physical version.

What the studio said about the gap
Insider Gaming, reporting an announcement on Remedy’s official X account, says the developers need “just a little more time” for the physical edition and that the boxed release moved to 15 October as a result. Reported by Insider Gaming: CONTROL Resonant goes gold, physical edition delayed
The date was still in place when the launch trailer went out. Gaming Trend’s report on that trailer repeats the studio’s press text:
“The physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will follow on October 15, 2026.”

A retailer listing can lag the studio
A store that took pre-orders before the change may still show an older date on its page, and a retailer’s own text can differ from the studio’s. If a listing and the studio disagree, the studio’s wording above is the one to go by, and a shop’s customer service can confirm when your copy ships.
Steam, Epic and the Steelbook
The studio’s press text names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for physical editions, so Steam and the Epic Games Store, which sell digital copies, are not part of the disc wave as the studio describes it. The Steelbook Edition is a physical edition, and the press text gives one date for physical editions without singling it out; what it is, and what is known about its contents, is on the Steelbook page.
Which way to buy if the date matters
The digital editions are the ones available from the unlock; the discs come later.
